Born July 19, 1942, in Harrisburg, PA, he was the son of the late Lester Cleveland Stoner Sr. and Anna Mae (Green) Stoner.
Les was a 1960 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, a 1974 graduate of Hagerstown Junior College, and a 1977 graduate of Coppin State College, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Criminology.
He retired in 1980 from the Maryland Correctional Institute, where he was an assistant warden, and retired in 2000 from Washington County Health System, where he was the director of security and emergency preparedness.
Les was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Big Pool, MD. He was also a member of the Mediary AF&AM #140 of Williamsport Md, the Scottish Rite Consistory Valley of Harrisburg Pa., Ali Ghan Shrine of Cumberland Md., Hagerstown Shrine Club, Sahara Unity of Ali Ghan Shrine, Directors Staff of Ali Ghan Shrine, the Royal Order of Jesters Court #117 of Cumberland where he was the director in 2008., Life member of Kachina Billiken Klub Court #117, Life member of the AMVETS Post #10 of Hagerstown, the Joseph C Herbert American Legion post #222 of Clear Spring., Life member of Redman Tribe #84 of Williamsport, the National Association of Chief of Police, Life member of the National Rifle Association, the Fraternal Order of Police, Life member of BASS, Charter Board Member at Children’s Village, Charter Board Member of the Crime Solvers of Washington County, Board of Directors and Past Member Mason Dixon Counsel of Boy Scouts, Past President of the Maryland Classified Employee Association Chapter 10, Past President (1976-1978) of Clear Spring High School Band Boosters, Charter Member of Fort Frederick Ruritan Club where he was Vice President and President (1976-1982).,Community Service Council, Washington County Board of Directors (1975-1976)., 20 year member of the International Association of Hospital Security., and a 20 year member of the American Society for Industrial Security.
Les loved feeding and caring for wildlife and loved his cats. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, and traveling. He loved the joy of people and humor, his loving wife, Elaine, daughter, Lisha, and son-in-law, Ronnie.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Delores Elaine (Mills) Stoner; daughter, Lisha Ann Stoner Schetrompf of Williamsport; 2 nieces, Lyndee Stoner and Tiffany Snyder; and 3 great-nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ronald Schetrompf; sister, Joyce Ann Stoner; and brother, William Aolain Stoner.
Per his request, there will be no viewing or services.
