Born January 5, 1935, on the Tedrick family farm at Shanktown, he was the son of the late Howard Irvin Tedrick and Lillian (Gearhart) Tedrick.
Donald is preceded in death by his loving wife, M. Darlene Tedrick, in 2015.
He was a graduate of Clear Spring High School, Class of 1952, and attended Columbia Business College in Hagerstown.
Donald was employed by the Washington County Board of Education for 41 years, retiring in 1994 as Director of Pupil Transportation.
He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Big Pool, where he held numerous offices during his life time.
Donald enjoyed antique automobiles and raised boxer puppies over the years.
He was an election judge at the Clear Spring District, a member of the Maryland State Teachers Association, American Association of Retired Persons, Travelers Protective Association, the Antique Automobile Club of America, the Mason Dixon Region Antique Automobile Club, Fairlane Club of America, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks #378 of Hagerstown, Washington County Retired Educational Personnel Association, Clear Spring District Historical Association, Shanktown Cemetery Board member, the Mediary Lodge #140 A.F. & A.M., where he served many years as chaplain and later as secretary, and the Improved Order of Redman Tribe 84 of Williamsport.
Donald is survived by 3 children, D. Jeffrey Tedrick and wife, Lori Shank Tedrick, of Boonsboro, M. Scott Tedrick and wife, Lou Snezek Tedrick, of Bernardsville, NJ, and M. Diane Kearney and husband, Kevin, of Clear Spring; brother, M. Elwin Tedrick of Hagerstown; and 6 grandchildren, Amanda Tedrick, Jenna Tedrick, Tyler Tedrick, Joe Tedrick, Chad Kearney, and Miranda Kearney; and 4 great-grandchildren, Ava Seilhamer, Bailee Diehl, Zoey Seilhamer, and Annabell Tedrick.
In addition to his wife and parents, Donald was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Clara V. Tedrick, Vivian T. McKee, and Justa T. Martin and a brother, H. Cornell Tedrick.
Services will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 11:00 am at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Grant Spong will officiate. Interment will follow at Shanktown Cemetery in Big Pool, MD.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Masonic services will be held on Wednesday evening at 6 pm. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.
