Born March 18, 1947, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Porter Singleton, Sr. and Gladys (Shoemaker) Singleton.
Dean was a 1964 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.
He worked for Mack Truck of Hagerstown for 18 years and later worked for Turner Transportation for 16 years.
He was a member of the Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post 6319 of Greencastle, PA. Dean was a very gentle, kind, and loving person. He loved shooting pool, camping, and fishing. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing and was an avid Redskins fan.
Dean is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Shirley (Nisewander) Singleton, of Greencastle; a daughter, Kimberly Donovan and a son, Estol “Chuck” D. Singleton Jr., both of Virginia Beach, VA; step daughter, Sharon Wood; two step sons, Harold Pereschuk of Waynesboro, Mark Pereschuk of Atlanta, GA; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; special cousin, Diane Small; beloved dog, Batman; and beloved bird, Codwaladare.
In addition to his parents, Estol was preceded in death by a step son, Wayne Pereschuk
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 2 pm. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, Md. Chaplain Fred Chapin will officiate. Inurnment will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Clear Spring, MD.
