Born April 7, 1933, in Clear Spring, MD, he was the son of the late Earl Leon Small Sr. and Naomi (Hawbaker) Small.
He was a 1952 graduate of Clear Spring High School and was of the Christian faith.
Johnny was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War.
He retired from Halls Motor Transit after 30 years of employment and was a member of the Teamsters Union #992, the Funkstown Legion, and the Redman Tribe #84 of Williamsport.
Johnny dearly loved his family, especially his children.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia A. (Rager) Small of Hagerstown; daughter, Crystal Diller and husband, Chris, of Sharpsburg; son, Earl L. “Buss” Small III and wife, Donna, of Hagerstown; two sisters, Velma Kaylor of Clear Spring and Milbrey Jeanne Templon of Hagerstown; a brother, Norman Small of Clear Spring; a grandson, Hunter; numerous nieces and nephews; canine companion, Chloe; granddogs, Mya, Bo, and Stella; and very special friends, Rick Moats, Glenn Cuismano, and Greg Connor.
In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 1 brother.
The family will receive friends at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD on Thursday, December 19, 2019, from 6 to 8 pm. Prayers will be offered at 7:45 p.m. by Rev. Dan Hetherington. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.
