Born August 19, 1944, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Robert Haines and Mary J. (Shank) Haines.
Jack was a 1962 graduate of Clear Spring High School.
He was of the Christian faith.
Jack retired from the Herald-Mail Company as the Director of Personnel after 32 years of employment. He was also employed as a corporate executive with Donna Kaye Personnel, Inc. for 14 years and was a musician with Sentimental Sounds for 17 years.
Jack was a member of the Medairy Lodge #140 AF & AM, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Ali Ghan Shrine Patient Transportation Director, Ali Ghan Shrine Band, the Kentucky Colonels, Past President of Hagerstown Shrine Club, Past President and Lifetime Member of the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company, Sentimental Sounds, Tri State Big Band, Tall Cedars, Izaak Walton League, Royal Order of Jesters Cumberland Court #117, Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post 222, the Elks Lodge #378, and the Williamsport Redman Tribe #84.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Donna J. (Newman) Haines; two sons, Gary Hayes and wife, Anna and Todd Haines and wife, Maya; a brother, Joe Haines; and 4 grandchildren, Craig and Kyle Hayes and Conner and Kelsey Haines.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother, John Haines.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at 11 am at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD. Eric Ferris, Executive Teaching Pastor Vineyard Cincinnati Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Little Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring, MD.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 with Masonic services beginning at 6 pm. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.
