Born August 25, 1929, in PA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Fanny (Mason) Harnish.
James was a carpenter most of his life. He attended Kasiesville Bible Church in Mercersburg, PA.
James is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Anna Mae (Shank) Harnish; two sons, Donald Harnish and wife, Lovesse of Hagerstown, and Douglas Harnish and wife, Molly, of Big Pool; one daughter, Patricia Miller of Greencastle; one brother, Lawrence Harnish of Clear Spring; two sisters, Fern Weaver of Hagerstown and Theabelle Eddy of Berkeley Springs, WV; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, James Leroy Harnish; a sister, Loretta Harnish Klima; and 2 brothers, Gary Harnish and Tom Harnish.
Services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 12 pm at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD. The Pastor Greg Kell will officiate. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.
