Born February 15, 1940, in Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Luther Lesher Oaks and Mary Elva (Stouffer) Oaks.
Jerrold was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School and a member of the Clear Spring Mennonite Church.
He was the owner and operator of Oaks Farms, where he was a lifetime dairy and beef farmer and dealer of used machinery.
Jerrold’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of his life.
Jerrold is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Evelyn L. (Helman) Oaks; 10 children, Jerrold Oaks Jr. (Gloria), Brenda Vann, Patricia Halteman (Arlin), Norma Ebersole, Mark Oaks (Sonjurae), Grace Gaylor (Dave), Donna Long (Don), Noah Oaks (Trisha), Jay Oaks, and Mary Smith (Justin); 36 grandchildren, Brian, Ronda, Kayla, Tonya, Darin, Irvin, Cheyenne, Chad, Kent, Justin, Courtney, Tyler, Kelly, Valerie, Kendall, Valissa, Kerland, Violetta, Veanna, Kurt, Veniece, Veolla, Olivia, Amy, Chloe, Brayden, Camron, Julianna, Hunter, Paige, Ava, Zoey, Troy, Sawyer, McKenzie, and Laikynn; 10 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Blake, Alyson, Trevor, Isabel, Easton, Peyson, Nash, Kinsley, and Mason.
In addition to his parents, Jerrold was preceded in death by a son in law, Mark Vann. He was the last surviving member of his family.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at 2:30 pm at the Clear Spring Mennonite Church in Clear Spring, MD. Min. Leonard Eby and Min. Lowell Eby will officiate. Interment will immediately follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD on Friday evening from 4 to 8 pm and 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
