Born September 13, 1956, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Gordon Richard Mills and Thelma Pearl (Bowers) Mills.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Rose Ann (Benfield) Mills; one son, Jeffrey Mills; one daughter, Ninfa Sollenberger (John II), two grandsons, John Sollenberger III and Jared Sollenberger; one granddaughter, Jessica Sollenberger, all of Clear Spring; two sisters, Wilma Corder (Lonnie) of Hagerstown and Stella Trumpower (Michael) of Needmore, Pa; one brother, Grailing Mills (Susan) of Clear Spring; mother-in-law, Betty Benfield and grandma, Rose McCormick, both of Big Pool; two brother-in-laws, David Benfield (Karen) of Middletown, Md and Michael Benfield (Tina) of Calhoun, GA; two sister-in-laws, Sharon McKinney (Rick) of Colorado Springs, CO and Roseanne Brown of Hagerstown; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Claudia Mills and Mildred Smith, and father-in-law, Floyd Benfield.
Jesse previously worked at Rayloc Corporation in Hancock for 34 years and was currently employed with Electromet Corp. of Hagerstown for the last 12 years.
He was a Past Master and current Master of James W. Bowers Masonic Lodge of Hancock. He served as Deputy Grand Lecture for the Grand Lodge of Maryland. He was also a Past Grand Tall Cedar Member of Hagerstown Forest #95 Tall Cedars of Lebanon and served as its current Scribe. He was a member of the Berkeley Chapter #77 Order of the Eastern Star, where he was Past Worthy Patron. Jesse loved spending precious quality time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, watching his Yankees play, and going to auctions.
Services will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Dean Metcalfe will officiate. Interment will follow at Parkhead Cemetery in Big Pool, Md.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with masonic services beginning at 6 p.m. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.
