Born September 16, 1933, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of John Frank Templon and Anna Amelia (Rhodes) Templon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Milbrey Jeanne (Small) Templon, of Hagerstown; three daughters, Roxanne Imes (John) of Hagerstown, Carole Molloy (Terry) of Westminster, and Beverly Wladkowski (Rod) of Westminster; a sister, Betty Olchewsky of Media, PA; a brother, George Templon of Hagerstown; three grandchildren, Eric and Ashley Imes and Evan Wladkowski; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was a 1951 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving as a flight engineer during the Korean conflict.
Upon leaving the Air Force, Bill made his living in the sheet metal/HVAC industry. He got his start and spent most of his career at Horn Mechanical Electrical in Hagerstown, which became GM Engineering. He moved to Kaempf and Harris in Frederick where he retired. After retirement, he stayed busy working part-time at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home.
Bill truly enjoyed volunteering his time and service and was active in many clubs and organizations. He was a member of St. Paul’s Reformed Church, and was a member of the Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post 222 and served on various committees. He was also a member of the Wilson Ruritan Club and the Clear Spring Historical Society. Bill was heavily involved in every single sport or activity that his children and grandchildren participated in and was a faithful attendee of every game, concert and show from preschool to college.
He loved playing golf, bowling, dancing, and roller skating, and was good at anything he did. When he wasn’t watching his girls or grandkids sports, he had them on TV.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to those who provided care for him during his illness, specifically at the University of Maryland Medical Center. And to nurse Robert Glenn, who provided exemplary care to Bill in his final days, above and beyond what was expected, whose kindness will be forever felt by our family.
Services will be held on Monday, October 14, 2019, at 11am at St. Paul’s Reformed Church, 14106 National Pike, Clear Spring MD. The Rev. Dan Hetherington will officiate. Interment will follow at Little Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring MD.
