Born August 5, 1968, in Hagerstown, Md., he is the son of John Milton Greenlee of Falling Waters, WV the late Elizabeth “Bette” (Johnson) Greenlee.
John was a 1986 graduate of Clear Spring High School.
He was a lifetime member of the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company and the Clear Spring Ambulance Company where he held various positions with in each organization and also served as chief.
He was employed for 29 years as a correctional officer at the Maryland Correctional Training Center in Hagerstown.
John’s greatest passion in life was spending time with his children. He enjoyed helping his son, Zach, at his restaurant, Trackside, and taking his daughter, Sarah, to her softball games and practices. He was very excited to meet his first grandchild in January. John grew up loving dirt track racing, Nascar, and his little dog, Max. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing tip jars, drinking beer with his friends, and eating crabs.
In addition to his father, John is survived by his children Conner, Zach (Bobbi Hart), Sarah, and Jaelyn and their mothers, April and Kristi; a sister, Kathy Rubeck and husband, Rick, of Clear Spring; a brother, Kevin Greenlee and wife, Kendra, of Williamsport; sister- in-law, Chris; two grandchildren, Ashton and one soon to arrive; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loving Trackside family.
In addition to his mother, John was preceded in death by a brother, Karl “George” Rohrer.
The family will receive friends at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 2 to 4p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company Special Events Building, 12323 Big Spring Road, Clear Spring, MD. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
