Born December 24, 1931, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Rankin and Ella E. (Howell) Rankin.
Mary attended Clear Spring High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Blairs Valley First Church of God in Clear Spring.
Mary loved and lived for her family, being devoted to their happiness.
She was a strong, independent woman. Even after a car accident left her unable to walk, she continued cleaning and managing her affairs from an electric chair, refusing to allow anyone to help.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Carol Miller, of Mercersburg; two sons, Carl Custer Jr. and fiancee, Jenni, and Perry Carbaugh Jr. and wife, Bobbie, all of Hagerstown; a sister, Barbara Rankin of Chambersburg; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Carbaugh Sr., in 1965; 2 sons, Charles Carbaugh and David Carbaugh; a sister, Elsie Yackley; and 2 brothers, Charles Rankin and Marvin Rankin.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown, Md.
