Rosa Ellen “Rosie” Starliper, 81, of Clear Spring, Maryland, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015, in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Born September 10, 1933, in Clear Spring, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Charles Cletus Flanagan and Rosie E. (Mills) Flanagan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Starliper, in 1967.
Rosie graduated in 1952 from Clear Spring High School.
She was employed by the Washington County Board of Education and the Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post 222 of Clear Spring for 50 years.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Clear Spring and the Ladies Auxiliary of Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post 222 of Clear Spring.
Rosie is survived by three sisters, Alpha Lee Shingleton and husband, Warner, of Clear Spring, Josephine Bryan and husband, Harry, of Hagerstown, and Anna Mary Leatherman and Si, of Williamsport; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and -great-great-nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, Maryland. The Rev. W. Allen Reed will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.
