Born February 1, 1944, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Samuel Henry Walters and Cora Mae (Barnhart) Walters.
William was a veteran of the US Army. He was paralyzed in 1967 while serving in the Vietnam War.
He was a very active member in the Disabled American Veterans and also a member of the Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 of Hagerstown.
William is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Connie Walters; daughter, Samantha; son, Paul, all of Hagerstown; 5 grandchildren, Cameron, Riley, and Kaden Wallman and Sloane and Chase Walters; and 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother.
The family will receive friends at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
